About

About RBS

A Houston-based brokerage and advisory firm built around one industry, restaurants, and one principle: the broker and the advisor should be the same firm.

Restaurant Brokerage Solutions exists to solve a problem most restaurant operators don't realize they have until they're stuck inside it. Most commercial real estate brokers handle restaurant deals alongside dozens of other retail and office property types. They can run a transaction, but they don't understand a restaurant P&L. Most restaurant consultants understand operations but have no license to handle the real estate side, which is often the largest single decision an owner makes. The result is that operators are forced to assemble fragmented advice from people who don't talk to each other and often work against each other's recommendations.

RBS is built around the opposite model. Licensed commercial real estate brokerage and structured operator advisory under one firm. Two independent service lines, one clear philosophy: an operator should be able to get straight answers from people who understand both sides of the business.

Why RBS Exists

The firm was founded by Ben Honea, who spent close to thirty years running restaurants before he ever brokered one, including multi-unit leadership across three states. That background is the entire point. It's why RBS reads a P&L the way an operator reads it, and why the advice holds up whether you're selling, signing a lease, or trying to make the restaurant you have work better. Ben is licensed in Texas and is based in Houston, working with restaurant operators across Texas.

How We Work

We are deliberately selective about the engagements we take on. That's not marketing language. It's how the firm is structured. We'd rather work with fewer operators and produce real results than collect engagements that don't fit. If we don't believe we can move the business forward, we say so before we sign anything.

Two principles shape every engagement:

We Work Exclusively in Restaurants

Restaurants are not a secondary vertical for RBS. They are the only vertical. A generic commercial broker or M&A advisor can run a process, but they don't understand the difference between a clean 28% food cost and a P&L that looks profitable on the surface but is masking operational problems. We do, because we work in this industry every day and nowhere else.

Brokerage and Advisory Are Independent Service Lines

RBS offers commercial real estate brokerage and a structured Advisory Program. These are two separate services, governed by two separate agreements, chosen independently by the client. An advisory client never has any obligation to use RBS for real estate representation. A brokerage client never has any obligation to engage advisory. This separation is structural and intentional. It protects the client's interests and keeps each engagement clean.

What We're Not

Three things we want operators to understand about what RBS is not:

Not a Generic Business Brokerage

We work only with restaurants. A generic business broker treats a restaurant like any other small business sale. We treat it as what it is, a specialized industry with lease assignments, kitchen infrastructure, permitting timelines, and operational nuances that drive whether a deal actually closes.

Not a Consulting Firm

A traditional consultant delivers a report and disappears. The work of changing how the business actually runs falls back on the owner. The RBS Advisory Program is the opposite. We work alongside you weekly until the system is built and running. The deliverable is not a document. It's a better-run business.

Not a Listing Service

When RBS takes a brokerage listing, we run a confidential, targeted process. We approach qualified buyers directly, manage diligence carefully, and protect the operator's confidentiality throughout. We don't list a business and wait for the phone to ring.

Service Area

RBS is headquartered in Houston. We serve restaurant operators in Houston, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and surrounding Texas metros. All real estate brokerage activity is conducted under Texas Real Estate Commission licensure within the state of Texas.
